Tribeca Duplex Apartment Renovation
335 Greenwich St, NYC, NY
Previously an enclosed kitchen, we did a full gut renovation and demolished walls to create an open-concept with a peninsula dividing. The kitchen features two distinct cabinet colors: Khaki Grey color for the bottom cabinets and Oak Wood for the top cabinets and pantry area. We extended the cabinets to the ceiling. This is a great solution not only for maximizing storage, but also creates the illusion of a higher ceiling, adding a more sophisticated, custom-built feel.
The countertop and backsplash are made from Sabbia Dekton stone, which extends all the way up to the ceiling on the window side, enhancing the overall elegance of the space.
For the living and dining room installed hardwood floor planks, built new ceilings, and organized the light distribution. Some space was left for future air conditioning installation.
The peninsula is designed with a subtle curve, creating a more organic shape that complements the rounded ceiling lights above. This design is also a practical solution for safety, especially in homes with children, as it eliminates sharp corners that could pose a risk. To add visual interest and movement to the peninsula, we incorporated solid wood tambour panels on the front, echoing the design of the pendant lights.
The Powder Room offers a refined, luxurious design, highlighted by the custom-made Calacatta Viola marble vanity, which serves as the focal point of the space. To maintain the flow of organic shapes, we selected a stunning curved mirror with an irregular form that adds character to the room.
The marble sconce lights complement the vanity beautifully, tying the design together.
To preserve the intimate and serene atmosphere of the room, we chose Benjamin Moore's White Dove for the walls. This color seamlessly blends all the elements, creating the ideal ambiance for the space.
The Master Bathroom showcases luxurious marble tiles with elegant blue and green veining, covering the floor, shower walls, and an accent wall behind the freestanding bathtub. White subway tiles on the side walls provide a crisp contrast, balancing the rich tones of the marble.
The freestanding bathtub is the focal point of the room, offering both a striking visual and a serene, spa-like experience. The addition of heated floors in the master bathroom also adds to the additional comfort.
The custom-made oak wood vanity adds warmth and texture, while the slim, tall medicine cabinet directs the eye upward, emphasizing the room's height and adding a sense of grandeur.
We created a metallic structure so that the washer and dryer could fit underneath it and be stepped on top. The top was made of white oak wood, stained to match the hardwood floors in the living room.
After two duplexes combined and full renovation of spaces later, the Chapter team felt a deep sense of fulfillment in the project’s completion. Now equipped with enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone, a spacious living room to relax in, a kitchen designed for cooking together, and a generous dining area ready to host everyday meals and family conversations, this project is proof that smart planning and renovation can create comfortable, spacious living possible to keep up with a growing family in New York City.
